Career advancement and alleged imbalances in the ranking system of the Nigeria Police Force have become subjects of renewed attention following a meeting between the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The police chief wants the commission to work with the force in reviewing its personnel structure, particularly the challenges confronting officers in the Inspectorate cadre and the existing Scheme of Service.

Disu made the appeal during a visit to the PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu, where both institutions discussed ways to improve personnel administration and strengthen cooperation.
The IGP said a review of the Scheme of Service would help promote fairness, transparency and merit in decisions affecting officers’ careers. He also called for sustained engagement between the force and the commission to address issues affecting promotions and career progression.
