Mahama reclaims Presidency in historic Ghanaian election

Bawumia, addressing journalists at his residence, revealed that his party’s internal collation of results confirmed Mahama’s triumph.

He also announced that Mahama’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) had secured a majority in the parliamentary election.

“Based on the data from our internal collation, former President John Dramani Mahama has won the presidential election decisively,” Bawumia stated.

“The NDC has also emerged victorious in the parliamentary election. While a few seats are still under collation, the overall outcome remains unchanged,” he added.

To prevent escalating tensions, Bawumia opted to concede ahead of the Electoral Commission’s official announcement.

According to Reuters, reports of skirmishes at some constituency centres underscored the delicate political climate.

“I am making this concession speech before the Electoral Commission’s declaration to maintain peace and stability in our country,” he explained.

“Ghana’s democratic and peaceful character must continue to inspire confidence among global investors.”

Acknowledging the public’s call for change, Bawumia added, “The people have spoken, and we humbly accept their decision.”
