United States President Donald Trump has cast his ballot ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, as his Republican Party seeks to retain control of Congress.
Trump voted alongside his wife, Melania, in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday before travelling to Georgia for a campaign rally in support of Republican candidates.

Speaking to reporters after voting, the president said he had voted exclusively for candidates from his party. He also dismissed concerns about corruption as an issue for voters, arguing that the problem was more prevalent in areas controlled by Democrats.
“You ought to look at the real corruption — it’s Democrat corruption,” Trump said.
The president also repeated his longstanding claims that he won the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden. Trump has repeatedly alleged widespread electoral fraud, but his claims of a stolen election have not been substantiated.
“I ran and I won in 2016, and I won in 2020, too, but it didn’t work out that way,” he said at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office in West Palm Beach. “It was a rigged election, but I won by millions of votes.”
Trump’s early vote comes as Republicans campaign to maintain their majorities in Congress during the midterm elections. The outcome will determine how much legislative support the president can expect during the remaining years of his current term.
Midterm elections often pose challenges for the party occupying the White House, as voters use the contests to assess the performance of the administration. Control of the House of Representatives and the Senate will influence the passage of legislation, government oversight and the president’s policy agenda.
Polls cited in the supplied report suggested that Republicans were facing the possibility of losing control of the House, with the Senate also competitive. However, polling results represent voter preferences at the time surveys are conducted and are not a guarantee of the final outcome.
A Republican loss in either chamber could complicate Trump’s efforts to advance his legislative priorities. Democrats would also gain greater opportunities to hold hearings and conduct investigations through congressional committees if they secured control of the relevant chamber.
Democratic lawmakers have indicated that they want to examine business dealings involving Trump and people close to him, including activities linked to the Trump family’s holding company since his return to the White House.
The midterm elections are therefore significant not only for the balance of power in Congress but also for the level of scrutiny the administration may face during the second half of Trump’s term.
