At last, Port Harcourt Refinery Begins Operations

In a statement, Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL’s spokesperson, described the development as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s energy sector. “Today marks a historic moment as the Port Harcourt Refinery starts crude oil processing. This achievement signals a new chapter of energy self-reliance and economic progress for the nation,” the statement read.

Soneye extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari, praising their dedication to the project. “Their commitment is reshaping Nigeria’s energy landscape,” he added.

He also confirmed that truck loading operations at the refinery would begin the same day, and efforts are ongoing to restart operations at the Warri Refinery soon.

The announcement follows multiple delays in the refinery’s resumption of operations.
