The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded more than 90% of the polling unit results from Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election to its Result Viewing (IReV) portal as of 6:20 p.m.
The latest update on the IReV portal, as of 6:18 p.m., indicates that 3,543 out of 3,933 polling unit results have been uploaded.
Meanwhile, INEC reported that 3,823 (97%) of the 3,933 polling units across the 203 wards in Ondo’s 18 local government areas had opened by 8:30 a.m. The remaining 110 polling units opened between 8:31 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Speaking on the ongoing election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the election in Kiribo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area.
He stated that it took over 10 minutes for the INEC BVAS to capture his biometric details, adding, “The system is compromised. We’ve received multiple reports of vote buying and BVAS issues. This is a very shameful exercise.”
However, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, expressed satisfaction with the election’s conduct after casting his vote at Polling Unit 5, Ugbo Ward 4, in Ilaje Local Government Area around 8:50 a.m.
He described the process as “encouraging,” saying, “It’s reassuring to see the exercise going smoothly here, and I hope this is reflective of the experience across the state.”
