Graduating Students of the Ekiti Metropolitan College of Management and Technology have been advised to practice what they learned during their  various courses rather than chasing non-extent jobs in Nigeria.

The Provost of the College, Dr Godwyins Agbude gave the admonition at a graduating ceremony held in Ado-Ekiti. Dr Agbude decried the rising unemployment in the country, pointing out that a serious-minded graduate will not devote time looking for job instead of utilizing his/her course of study to create a promising future for himself.

He told the students that since the type of programmes they ran can make themselves self-employed, they have no option than to practice them for their good and that of the society.

In his speech, a philanthropist and Founder, Prince Adeyinka Alli Foundation (PAAF), Prince Adeyinka Alli emphasized the need for the students to be positively-minded in their quest to scale through in life considering that they have got what it takes to excel in their different life endeavour.

The Founder of PAAF who is also a former governorship candidate of the All People’s Party (APP), in the last Ekiti gubernatorial election, reminded the graduating students that the dictates of the society these days is for people like them to even engage in volunteer, carry out certain jobs without expecting payment, but as a way of marketing themselves for a better tomorrow.

“Ekiti may be referred to as a poor State today, but through your efforts, it will  turn around to be the richest State in this country”. Hence, he urged the graduating students not to rest on their oars but to go out and prove their mettle. On graduautes of a two- month skills acquisition programme at the Foundation, Prince Alli told them that they were embarking on a new beginning in their lives where they must be ready to be confronted by some challenges but with determination, he said they will succeed.

Chairman of the occasion, and a former Governor in Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni who was represented by Hon. Bamisile Oluwole,  described the programmes run by the institution as capable of assisting them to be on their own because they have what is trending in the society. He appreciated the authorities of the school for putting in place programmes that will ensure that the graduates will find their feet in diverse areas of human endeavour.

Some of the students in their separate reactions, thanked the Almighty God for seeing them through the programmes, and the management of the school for being able to teach them what is getting them set for a better tomorrow.

Over one hundred students graduated  in the following fields, graphics design, web development, photography, cinematography, sound recording, journalism and broadcasting, effects make-up, film editing, script writing and others
