The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Coordinator for Ekiti State, Mr. Kolade Peters, has paid a solidarity visit to Ebinla 102.3FM following a lightning strike that destroyed broadcast equipment worth an estimated ₦500 million.

The visit, which took place at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, was aimed at assessing the extent of the damage and identifying steps toward restoring the station’s full operational capacity.
Receiving the NBC Coordinator were top management of the station led by the Chairman, Mrs. Toyin Agbaje, and the General Manager, Mr. Tope Asejire.
In his solidarity message delivered on behalf of the NBC leadership, Mr. Peters assured the management and staff of the Commission’s continued support.
He also prayed for divine provision to enable the station to replace the damaged equipment.
The NBC Coordinator subsequently held a meeting with all departmental heads and other members of staff to evaluate the impact of the incident and discuss immediate pathways for recovery.
Speaking on behalf of the station’s management, Mrs. Toyin Agbaje expressed gratitude to the NBC for the visit and for its words of encouragement.

Mrs. Agbaje pledged to adhere to all professional advice offered by the NBC during the visit.
She further urged staff not to be discouraged, expressing confidence that the setback would bring out the best in Ebinla 102.3FM.
“This incident is a test of our resilience. We will come back stronger and continue to serve our listeners with quality programming,” she said.
The lightning surge was said to have affected key transmission and studio equipment, forcing the station to operate at reduced capacity.
The NBC and the station’s management are expected to work together on technical and regulatory steps to fast-track the restoration of full broadcasting services.
