With just few days to the Osun State Governorship Election, the National Leadership of the Citizens in Politics Assembly, CIPA, has called on the people of Osun to shun all forms of violence, embrace peace, and come out en masse to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
In a statement issued by the Media Director of CIPA, Mr. Charles Abere, ANIPR, the organisation urged eligible voters to remain vigilant and ensure that their votes are protected from intimidation and disenfranchisement.
CIPA emphasized that democracy can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, order, and respect for the rule of law.
The Director General, CIPA, Dr. Abigail Olagbaye, declared that “Peace is the foundation of prosperity. Osun, come out on Saturday and vote so democracy can deliver real dividends to your homes.”
“We urge all citizens of Osun State to conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election. No political ambition is worth the blood of any citizen. The people must be allowed to perform their civic responsibility without fear or harassment,” the statement read.
The organisation also called on security agencies, INEC, and all political stakeholders to remain neutral and professional in order to guarantee a free, fair, credible, and conclusive poll.
CIPA formally declares its full support for the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji – AMBO.
The CIPA D-G affirmed that Osun needs leadership that understands governance and delivers impact. “Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, has the competence, integrity, and people-first vision to grow our economy, create jobs, and put money back in the pockets of citizens. CIPA endorses AMBO for real governance and shared prosperity.”
Drawing parallels with the June 20 Ekiti State Governorship Election, CIPA noted that Ekiti’s peaceful and decisive vote led to stable leadership and visible development for the people.
“The people of Ekiti spoke with one voice and their mandate was respected. Osun must replicate that same spirit of unity and determination to enthrone accountable governance,” Abere added.
The organisation charged youths, women, traditional rulers, and community leaders across Osun to mobilize voters and reject all forms of electoral violence, vote-buying, and thuggery.
“August 15 is about your livelihoods. Reject vote-buying. Reject empty promises. Vote for leadership, real, measurable impact and an assured future that will turn government into jobs, markets, and better living for every Osun family.” Dr. Abigail Olagbaye further charged.
“August 15 is an opportunity for Osun to choose progress over propaganda, and development over disruption and theatrics. Vote wisely. Protect your vote. Let democracy prevail,” CIPA concluded.
