President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstruction of the Ado–Ijan–Ilumoba–Ikole Road, with funding to be provided under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund.
In a letter dated July 1, 2026, the approval was conveyed to the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Mr. Zach Adedeji. The letter was copied to the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji.

The approval comes barely seven months after the commencement of construction on the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado-Ekiti Road, also following the President’s directive.
The Ado–Ijan–Ilumoba–Ikole Road links the South-West region with the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and provides direct access to critical institutions and infrastructure, including the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti; Afe Babalola University; the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport; the Ekiti Knowledge Zone; and the Federal Institute of Transport Technology.
The road has remained in a deplorable condition for many years due to persistent neglect by previous administrations.
President Tinubu, at a recent meeting with Governor Oyebanji and the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, had pledged to prioritise the reconstruction of the road through its inclusion in the Renewed Hope Projects.
Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for fulfilling the promise.
“This is yet another clear demonstration of Mr. President’s love and support for Ekiti State, and his commitment to nationwide infrastructure upgrade in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the Governor said.
Road infrastructure remains central to the development agenda of the Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji administration.
In the last three and a half years, the administration has constructed over 285 kilometers of inter-city and intra-city roads, including a 1.2-kilometer flyover. It has also delivered 135 kilometers of rural roads through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP. Several other road contracts have also been awarded and are at various stages of completion.
The State is further collaborating with the Federal Government and international development partners to upgrade road infrastructure in line with the administration’s Shared Prosperity Agenda.
