The safe return of women and children abducted in Eda-Oniyo Community, Ilejemeje Local Government Area, has brought relief and renewed hope to families and communities across Ekiti State.
According to Otunba Oluwadare Owolabi, “The news of their return comes at a time when anxiety and fear gripped families and the wider community. This outcome is a moment of comfort and thanksgiving,” he stated.

“I join well-meaning Nigerians, particularly the people of Ekiti North Senatorial District, in welcoming our mothers and children back home. Their safe return is a blessing, and I pray they find healing, peace, and strength in the days ahead.”
“While we give thanks, this relief must not obscure the painful reality that the incident occurred. The violation of the safety of our people, especially the most vulnerable, demands serious reflection and decisive action.
“Our communities deserve to live without fear, and we must all rise to ensure that this becomes a lasting reality.”
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of the individual who did not survive the ordeal. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. May God grant them comfort and the grace to endure this profound loss.”
Otunba Owolabi commended security operatives, community vigilantes, and stakeholders who worked behind the scenes to secure the rescue, noting that collective effort remains critical to overcoming security challenges.
“As an advocate for community development and human welfare, I urge sustained collaboration among citizens, traditional institutions, and security agencies. Preventing future occurrences must now be our collective responsibility.
“We must invest more in vigilance, trust, and community-driven intelligence to protect our people. Let this moment strengthen our unity and reinforce our shared commitment to peace and security across Ekiti North and beyond.”
