Ekiti Police Command Arrests Two Suspected Robbers, Rescues Two Abducted Victims

In the early hours of Monday, June 29, 2026, at about 3:00 a.m., a gang of three armed men attacked a faulty petrol tanker on the Ikole–Oye Road. The hoodlums robbed the driver and his motor boy of their mobile phones, abducted them, and tied them to a tree in a nearby bush.

The suspects later returned to the tanker, removed six truck tyres, and loaded them into an ash-coloured Ford minibus with the intent to flee toward Kogi State.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol intercepted the vehicle, recovered all six stolen tyres, and arrested two suspects identified as Ezekiel Balogun and Usman Wada, both from Kabba, Kogi State. One other suspect escaped and remains at large.

The arrested suspects led police operatives to the bush where the abducted driver and his motor boy were found and rescued unharmed.

The case has been transferred to the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, for discreet investigation. The police said efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect and bring all those involved to justice.

The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

He urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support the fight against crime.
