Environment Commissioner Calls For Improved Hygiene To Prevent Epidemics In Ekiti

The commissioner made this call during the monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, emphasizing that maintaining a high level of hygiene is crucial to keeping the environment free of epidemics.

During her visit to the Post Office area of Ado Ekiti, Erelu Aluko-Ajisafe commended the efforts of the tricycle drivers’ union, who were actively involved in cleaning the median. However, she expressed disappointment with the market women in Okesha and Atikankan for not complying with the state’s sanitation laws.

The commissioner further encouraged the people of Ekiti State to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s initiatives aimed at ensuring the safety of lives and property. These initiatives include dredging and desiltating activities currently ongoing in the state.

The Director of Environmental Health and Sanitation, Mr. Tunde Balogun, announced that several violators of environmental sanitation laws have been apprehended and will face prosecution.
