Fairaction Nigeria, a branch of Fairaction International, commemorated World Water Day 2026 with a keynote address by National Coordinator, David Tola Winjobi (PhD), at Arulogun Oja, Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State.

The event highlighted the theme “Where water flows, equality grows,” focusing on water and gender equality.

Winjobi emphasized the importance of equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, citing statistics on water scarcity and its impact on education, health, and the economy.
According to Winjobi, “Women and girls bear the burden of water collection, face health risks, and are underrepresented in water governance.”

He called for increased investment in water infrastructure, community-led solutions, and government prioritization of water sector development.
Fairaction Nigeria is working to provide sustainable, solar-powered water infrastructure in rural communities.

The organization urges citizens, governments, and stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring clean water for all, realizing SDG 6 target 1.
