The Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Environment has thrown its support for a Non-Governmental Organisation known as Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation (TGED) towards achieving a sustainable environmental impacts in the State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Chairman House Committee on Environment, Hon.Iyabo Fakunle-Okieimen while playing host to the team of advocacy group in the House of Assembly Complex, Ado-Ekiti.
In her remarks, Hon. Okieimen said she was elated to receive the Foundation and commended them on their activities towards addressing Environmental issues in the State.
Hon. Okieimen described Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation as formidable non profit organisation that is passionate about advocacy and enlightenment of People on the dangers inherent to Environmental issues.
The former Commissioner for Environment and the Lawmaker representing Ilejemeje Constituency stressed the need for other Non-Governmental Organisations to take cue from Triple Green Environmental Development Foundation to prevent Environmental degradation and hazards which can endanger the lives of the Citizenry.
Hon. Okieimen, therefore assured the Foundation of maximum Legislative support and charged them not to rest on its oars in their advocacy and enlightenment crusade.
Earlier, the Leader of the team, MS Oluwaseyi Ebenezer applauded the House of Assembly for their contributions to the State through robust legislation and impactful lawmaking.
She reiterated that the Foundation is a non profit making organisation that is committed to achieving Sustainable Environmental impacts, adding that the Foundation is in collaboration with the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals for the actualisation of Sustainable Environmental Development.
MS Oluwaseyi solicited the support of the House with specific regard to the Committee on Environment in the areas of enactment and enforcement of laws that can address numerous challenges that are having negative effects on Environmental Development in Ekiti State.
Similarly, the Chairman House Committee on Lands and Housing, Hon.Yomi Ayorinde has called on the Management Staff, Bureau of Lands and Office of Surveyor General to embrace peaceful dialogue and amicable resolution of land matters in the State particularly with the owners of Government acquired land area.
Hon Ayorinde made this known during an interface with the Surveyor General of the State, John Faleto and the Senior Management Staff of Bureau of Lands and Housing in the Assembly Complex.
The Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Housing raised several issues that have to do with Land matters in the State such as proposed amendment to Ekiti State Property Protection (Anti-Land Grabbing) Law, 2020, Issue of double allocation of plot to two subscribers, State of Infrastructure in the Government Estates.
Other issues discussed were allocation of lands to subscribers yet to be attended to, briefing on land registration portal and challenges facing Bereau of land and other allied matters in the office of the State Surveyor General.
The Lawmaker representing Ido Osi Constituency 2, Hon. Yomi Ayorinde said the Bureau should avoid double allocation of one plot to two subscribers and take the issue of accessibility to allocated plots in the Government Estates with all seriousness.
The Chairman and the other Committee Members assured the Surveyor General, Mr Faleto and the stakeholders in the Bureau of Lands of the readiness of the House of Assembly to assist them in taking their issues to the appropriate authority, if they can drive their proposal.
Meanwhile, the Surveyor General, Mr John Adebayo Faleto, Director of Land services Mr Isaac Ajakaye, Director of Deeds Registry, Mrs Dunni Korede-Owa and other Directors in the Bureau of Lands commended the Committee for the interface and highlighted the activities of the Bureau.
The land managers used the occasion to intimate the Committee on the various challenges facing the Bureau of Lands, the Office of the State Surveyor General and called for intervention from the appropriate authority.
