Following the resolve of Ekiti State Government to maintain a clean environment in all the nooks and crannies of the State, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe said the weekly sanitation exercise in all the markets in the State begins tomorrow.
The Commissioner has earlier disclosed to the market leaders during a meeting with them in Ado Ekiti, the State capital that the initiative which was similar to what operates in Lagos State would start with effect from Thursday, March 14th, 2024.
According to Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, all market activities would be temporarily suspended between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. to allow for thorough cleaning and environmental maintenance.
She added that all the roadside lock up shops are not excluded in the exercise pointing out the need to clear the littered medians around market areas
The Commissioner enjoins all concerned persons to ensure strict compliance stating that the staff of the Ministry would be on ground to monitor the exercise.
Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe said offenders will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
