Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise Holds Tomorrow In Ekiti — Says Commissioner       …. urges residents to clean their surroundings 

Statement by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Chief (Mrs) Tosin Aluko Ajisafe, says all government employees are urged to clean their offices and surroundings on Friday, 26th January, 2024 before the end of the workday.

According to the commissioner, the Theme for January Edition of environmental sanitation is “Clean Environment Prolongs Life, Make Sanitation A Habit”

While urging everyone in Ekiti to tidy up their surroundings, the Commissioner said that movement restrictions will apply to both people and vehicles throughout the exercise, with the exception of individuals involved in official responsibilities as well as essential duties and services.

In addition, business owners are advised to properly dispose of their wastes and clear the drainage systems in front of their structures.

The Commissioner also cautions all vendors at the various markets to take advantage of the occasion to clean their stores and booths and to make sure that any rubbish is properly disposed of and not dumped into the drainages.

 All market places and commercial settings would be closed until 10:00am of the Sanitation Exercise day. In order to oversee the exercise across the state, Chief Mrs Aluko

 stressed that the state, Environmental Health Officers from the State and Local Governments, NGO’s, and Security agencies will be present. 

For the purpose of prosecuting violators of environmental health and sanitation laws, Mobile Courts shall be in operation across the State. Aluko said.

The commissioner urged the residents to maintain a clean and tidy environment during this dry season.
