The Worldwide President, Old Students Association of St. Augustine Comprehensive High School, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Mr. Vincent Idowu Bamigboye, has called on the members to embrace the challenge of making the school great.

Mr. Bamigboye, who passed out from the school in 1980, made the call at the school on Wednesday while addressing newsmen as part of the activities lined up to mark the 50th Anniversary of the school.
Noting that the school was rated the second best in the 2025 WAEC results in Ekiti, he urged them all to be ready for the next challenge which is to make the school one of the top fifty schools in Nigeria.

Highlighting some of the achievements so far recorded, the President pointed out that the Association has renovated the Asaolu’s Block, the Administrative Block and Staff Quarters of the School. Adding that they have also built modern toilets, ten for girls and six for boys with modern facilities for sanitary purposes including 3.5 perimeter fence that was done round the school with barb wires on it for security purposes, as well as provision of two boreholes for the school.
Speaking further, Bamigboye explained that the next project they would be embarking on is the 16 self-contained rooms they want to build which according to him would serve as Corpers’ Lodge for every corper coming to serve in the school with the pledge that it would be ready by the end of February 2026.

The President who noted that the Alumni Association has been involved in the renovation of the school facilities since 1984 when the Association was established, maintained that the old students of the school have set a standard for upcoming students to achieve success in life, urging them to consolidate on the set standards.
Also, the Pioneer Worldwide President of the Association, Dr. Tunde Adu, who explained that a lot of people had passed through the school, said this is the time to give back to their Alma Mater, which according to him was the motive of forming the Association in 1984 because of the passion he said they have for the school.

The Association which he described as a small tree planted when they started in 1984, said has grown big by the efforts of his successors as they now have branches in Lagos, Ondo, States, Abuja, Port/Harcourt and United Kingdom among others.
Noting that God has really used the chapters to take the Association to a greater height, he urged the students of the school to follow the precedents laid, believing that God is taking each and everyone of them to places in life.
On her part, the first Senior Girl of the School, Mrs Julianah Omolola Obabiire, Nee Omotoso, popularly known as aunty’s Jully,
said the school has done a lot for them all. She remarked that whoever comes to the school and focuses on his or her studies would no doubt pass out in flying colours.
“It shows in what we saw here today that we have high calibre of people. We used to compete then when we were in the school. The healthy competition we had then is still going on till today which has made the school to be first among others”.

She therefore admonished the upcoming students to face what they are doing and listen to good advice through which she said they would definitely be great in life.
“If you do that, you won’t be the type that would get the certificate that you cannot defend. We were able to defend our own certificates”. Said she.
The first Senior Prefect of the School and the BOT Chairman, Engr. Isola Ilelaboye, who commended the members for all they have been doing, said efforts are on to bring in other old students that are yet to join the Association.
“When they see us progressing, with our persuasion, obviously they would join”, he stated.

The a-week long activities of the golden jubilee of the school drew members from far and near to chart a new course for better transformation and advancement of their Alma Mater.
