3 Men Docked For Allegedly Fighting In Public

By Jerry Olomolaye

Three unemployed men were docked in a Grade I Area court Karu, Abuja for allegedly fighting in public.

The police charged Samson Hassan, Muawiya Hassan and Arimiyau Adamu with disturbing public peace.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Edwin Ochayi,  told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 2, in A.Y.A area of Asokoro, Abuja.

Ochayi said the defendants engaged themselves in a brawl and sustained serious injury  on themselves.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 113 of the Penal Code.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Judge, Malam Umar Mayana, granted bail of the defendants with two sureties each.

Mayana ordered that the sureties must live within the court jurisdiction and address verified by a court officer.

He also ordered that the defendants must sign an undertaking and maintain public peace among themselves.

The judge adjourned the case until May 22 for hearing.
