The Director-General, National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu has restated that Nigerian citizens have a big role to play in putting an end to the spread of HIV/AIDS.
The NOA boss who was ably represented by a Director in the Agency, Mrs Olubukola Olorunfemi reechoed this on Tuesday during a road walk embarked on by NOA staff in Ekiti State as part of the activities put in place in commemoration of 2024 World Human Rights Day.
Noting that the government alone cannot win the fight against HIV/AIDS, the D-G appealled to Nigerian citizens to take advantage of the services made available by government
The staff of the agency converged in front of the Christ’s School Alumni Hall at 8:00 O’clock in the morning at Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti through Oke-Isa market, to the popular Oja-Oba within the State capital.
The road walk which focused on the World HIV/AIDS, Security Awareness, Discouraging Get Rich Quick Syndrome, Tax Reform Bills among others was tagged: “Our Rights,Our Future,Right Now“
Charging Nigeria citizens, NOA D-G encouraged them to report any act that infringes on their fundamental human rights to any law enforcement agencies around, adding that the sensitization is aimed at fostering mutual respect in all facets of life amongst residents.
The State Director of NOA, Mrs Oluwakemi Akomolede who led the staff members of the agency in Ekiti with the representative of the D-G were able to sensitize Nigerian citizens on their fundamental human rights, emphasising on dignity, equality, right to religion, association and justice for all.
