
A 16-year-old boy, Ayibanua Timipre, was found dead on Saturday after allegedly taking his own life at his parents’ home in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The incident, which happened in the morning on Jasmine Road, surprised residents of the usually quiet community. Timipre, an indigene of Igbomotoru in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, was reportedly discovered hanging from a ceiling fan.
While the reasons behind his actions remain unclear, locals described him as a calm and well-liked young man undergoing mobile mechanic training.
Police officers later recovered his body, and the Bayelsa State Police Command spokesman, Musa Mohammed, confirmed the incident.
Timipre would have marked his 16th birthday on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
